One of our popular training courses is the Master Teacher Training. In this course teachers will learn evidence-based strategies for teaching reading, spelling, and handwriting that are easy to implement in their classrooms.
How many hours is the course?
At the end of the course you will get a certificate for 40 professional development hours.
How long do I have to complete the course?
The course is available in a 30 day enrollment period or a 365 day enrollment period.
Do I need to be using the curriculum to do the class?
To get the most out of the class you should have access to either the Foundations or Essentials curriculum. They will be referenced during the course and the instruction includes teaching lessons using the curriculum. That being said, there is a lot to learn about the science of reading in this course that does not require using the Logic of English curriculum.
Can I take this course on my own?
The course is designed to be given with a group of peers. There are points to break out and discuss the concepts and times when you will be asked to teach lessons to others. However, not everyone who takes the course does so with a group. Please modify as needed. You may teach the lessons to peers, children, your family, or even to yourself. We encourage you to get practice with the curriculum and the concepts presented in the course in whatever way you are able to.
Is this course only for teachers? Can parents and homeschoolers take the course too?
Anyone interested in the science of reading is welcome to take the course. The course is designed with classroom teachers in mind. Parents can benefit from the Master Teacher Training course as well as our free course, How to Teach Reading and Spelling for Parents, which includes many of the same concepts as the Master Teacher Training course.
