• The phonogram C says two sounds /k/ and /s/.
• The phonogram C says the sound /s/ only before an E, I, or Y.
• This rule clarifies the difference between words such as cap, arc, and cent, citizen.

One of the most challenging aspects of English is vocabulary development. The English language has a massive vocabulary that continues to grow today! Most well-educated adults use about 100,000 words. Therefore, it is necessary to use morphology to teach word parts, including prefixes, suffixes, and roots.
