Phonogram Game Cards
Logic of English® Phonogram Game Cards provide students with a fun and engaging way to practice the basic phonograms and their sounds. Each Phonogram Game Card deck includes 75 basic phonograms, plus 14 action cards. The cards are printed on sturdy paper and coated for durability.
Activities in Essentials and Foundations include directions for using the game cards. In addition, the Logic of English Game Book provides ideas to develop phonogram fluency and build foundational phonics skills. The Phonogram Game Cards may also be used to supplement other reading and spelling programs.
The Phonogram Game Cards are designed and printed in three different fonts and colors:
- Blue Bookface
- Green Cursive
- Red Manuscript
Phonogram Game Card Decks
Most Logic of English games require two decks of Phonogram Game Cards. This helps students recognize and make connections between the way phonograms are seen in books and how they are handwritten. Bookface Blue is a font similar to the style in printed books. The Cursive Green and the Manuscript Red fonts represent handwriting styles. A deck of Blue Bookface Phonogram Game Cards and either a deck of Green Cursive or Red Manuscript Phonogram Game Cards are needed.
The Phonogram Game Cards Decks are included in many of our curriculum sets as well as available for purchase individually or as a set of two decks in the following colors:
- Blue Bookface and Green Cursive
- Blue Bookface and Red Manuscript
Game Cards in Classrooms and Groups
- Most Logic of English card games are designed for two to four players.
- One set (2 decks) of Phonogram Game Cards is enough for four students.
- We recommend ordering an additional set for every four students in a group setting.
Phonogram card games are a great way to help developing readers and spellers practice phonograms and acquire phonogram fluency in fun and engaging ways.
